Osteopaths are trained to recognise the links between the structure and function of the body. By addressing your body's structural imbalances we aim to improve how your body functions and how you feel. For example, after a fall or accident, the tension in the joints of the pelvis may be unequal, and you may feel as though you are walking slightly 'off balance' and strain in the low back may be felt. Osteopathy can address this. Poor posture at work or driving can lead to muscles on one side of the spine tightening more than on the other which can give rise to pain or discomfort in your back or neck. Again, osteopathy can help you to regain a more natural, balanced posture and get rid of pain. These are just a couple of examples - the scope of osteopathy is far-reaching as it can be used to help an array of musculo-skeletal problems. Treatment is suitable for all ages, including babies and children, and is tailored to the individual.
Many people report their general wellbeing improves with osteopathic treatment. Please call me to discuss how osteopathy can help you.
Professionalism and Safety Osteopaths are highly trained, primary care practitioners. our profession was one of the first complementary medicine modalities to be statutorily regulated. In order to practise in the UK, anyone calling him or herself an osteopath must be registered with the General Osteopathic Council(GOsC). Registrants must meet stringent professional standards and adhere to the Regulator's Code of Practice.
